The Lion and the Hare -Jataka Tales

Only he who has intelligence is strong; a foolish person can never be strong. Because, the arrogant lion, king of the forest, was killed by a mere rabbit.”

Once upon a time, there was a lion who ruled over a forest. One day, a clever hare came to him and said, "Your Majesty, the world is going to end tomorrow. The only way to save ourselves is to go to the other side of the forest, where there is a lake with sweet, cool water that will protect us from the end of the world."

The lion believed the hare and led the animals to the lake. However, when they got there, they found that the lake was very small and could only hold a few of them at a time. The hare, being very quick and clever, managed to jump over the heads of the other animals and reach the other side of the lake before anyone else.

When the lion realized what the hare had done, he became very angry and vowed to catch the hare and eat him. The hare, however, was too quick for the lion and managed to stay one step ahead of him at all times.

Eventually, the hare led the lion to a deep well, and the lion, in his eagerness to catch the hare, fell into the well and could not get out. The hare then mocked the lion from the top of the well, saying, "Your Majesty, I told you that I was cleverer than you. You should have known better than to try to catch me."

The moral of the story is that intelligence and quick thinking can often be more powerful than brute strength, and that one should never underestimate the power of a clever mind.
